Apache trail !

We have been hanging here in the resort for a few days.  Just relaxing and chilling.  Andy's parents left on Wednesday morning for Southern California for a wedding.  The tears were flowing.  Miss you guys already... wish you could have stayed longer.

Jon told us about a place called Apache Trail, just outside of Mesa, Arizona.  He said it would be a great day trip.  So off we went !

Straight up !
Andy holding up the RV roof and playing Angry Birds ! Just had to add this  !

We drove to the Apache Trail by way of Globe, Arizona.  The total day trip took 6 hours and over 100 miles. The weather was warm 78 degrees and the skies were sunny and bright blue.  The Apache Trail is a dirt road that runs about 25 miles through the desert canyons and alongside the Roosevelt Lake.

There are spots that freaked Andy out ! In some places the edge of the road was inches from a 100 foot cliff.  She was a good sport and made it through without too much mental damage !  lol   Living in Oregon is so amazing and beautiful, well in the summer, we said it would take a lot to impress us.  It did... but in a whole different way!  It's not like we live in Michigan or Texas ! LOL !

Strike the pose !

Excuse the power lines !  It's the only shot I had !

More majestic than it appears in a picture !

This picture doesn't do any justice

So beautiful !

Along the way we stopped at Tonto National Monument to see the Tonto cliff dwellings that over look what is today Roosevelt Lake.  These caves are over 700 years old.  It was a 1/2 miles up hill so we got a little exercise. Andy was so funny...as we were leaving the cliff dwellings, she said, "I wonder where they went to the bathroom" !  LOL

Didn't think these things were this tall ! They look smaller from far away !

After the long drive through the canyon we stopped at Tortilla Flats were everyone said we should. Not much there except a place called Superstition Saloon. The Saloon is covered in one dollar bills.  I bet there are over $10,000 on the walls and ceilings.  We visited there about 10 minutes and then decided to check out the Ghost Town / Mining Town.

Andy has never heard of a Jackalope so I showed her a "real one"...lol  Shhh !

Here is your bathroom you asked about Andy !
We stopped at Goldfield Ghost / Mining Town which isn't really a ghost town since they get lots of tourists.  LOL. It was very interesting and we enjoyed it.

We had such a good time.  It was very interesting and beautiful.  Great way to spend the day !  Thank you Jon very much.  I would highly recommend this day to trip to anyone !!!

Tomorrow is a swimming pool and soaking the rays day !.  Suppose to be 81 degrees !
