Say What ! Horses on the beach !

We have been having great weather since we have been here in San Carlos, Mexico. Most days are sunny with cool nights. Great sleeping weather.

Last Tuesday I went out and played a game of softball with many Canadians and Americans. The average age must have been 65-70 but they played pretty well. Had a blast ! I will be playing every week.

Andy and I have played Texas Hold'Um Poker the last two weeks. We play on Tuesdays at 1400 by the pool. The by-in are just $100 pesos...about $6 USD.  Andy took second place last week and I took first place this week.  Come on Melody you can do better!  Maybe next week will be your week ! lol

We decided to go hang out on the beach and just relax. We walked the beach..well others did ! I just sat on my butt and fished.

There are only three brave people in our group, Chris, Casey and I !  The brave group went swimming. Yes, a little cold but we did it.

Andy's view of the beach
Oh yes I did catch one....well... a blow fish !  ha ha

We have been eating out quite a bit. Sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner and sometimes both.  The food has been so good and so very inexpensive.  We ate at Tortugas the other night. Andy had a firey seared tuna steak, a huge Caesar salad which we shared, I had a large pizza and we each had 2 drinks. The bill was around $46.  They had live music too which we listened to after dinner.  Andy is in food heaven.

The gang minus me.
Oh yeah, there I am!

Andy and I had a date day!  We first went and bought "her" a 10+ lb fish for her dinner, yes she does like her fish.   We then walked along the beach, here is a view looking south....

This is where the movie Catch 22 was filmed.

Here is the view looking north

View from the Soggy Peso restaurant where Andy drank a "Beer" !  Yes she did !

Most days everyone gathers around our RV for happy hour. Gives us a chance to relax after our hectic day. NOT !   We are very lucky to be traveling with an incredible group of friends!!!

It cools down after the sun goes down...see all the sweaters and jackets we are wearing !

WE ARE ALWAYS THINKING OF THE REED FAMILY !
Ron Reed this  is for you!!  We did toast you today at lunch!

We went horseback riding today. What a blast !  We started in the desert and then rode on the beach for a while. We spent about 2 hours riding.  The horses were well trained but not just like trail horses. We could even get off the trail..well...with a little muscle.  I couldn't believe how affordable it was. $250  pesos an hour ( $13.88 USD ).

Astrid our guide. She is from Europe but has lived here over 20 years.
All Saddled up and ready to ride..ride like the wind !
Our cowgirls ready to move those doggys out !
What the hell is this between my legs...I don't think I like this !
Preston keep your back striaght, sit up stright, and keep your camera in your right hand...see, just like me!
Casey it is not a recliner dude.
Great time, beautiful scenery!

Here we all are.

Now it is time to hit the beach.  We were told the horses love to trot in the water in the summer when there are no waves.  This is the first time in my life I rode a horse on the beach.

Come on Barney get back in line...it is over there ! Casey leave me alone or I will have my horse bite yours !!
Melody catch up..ride next to me...I want to talk too !
This is really a sheep ! but he "thinks" it is a horse,,,shh... don't tell him !
Look who is all smiles, or maybe that is a grimace....her rear was getting a bit sore.
Again, here we all are, but on the beach this time. Beautiful !

Jim became tired of riding his horse so he dismounted and caught another animal to ride.  I believe they call it a Llama.

Jim and his wild Lama
We road past a real Mexican fishing village.  The people actually live here. They just squat on the beach and call it home. No electric, water or sewer ! They use solar panels or generators at night. Million dollar locations, shacks and shanty's. Very humbling.

After our ride we went to the Soggy Peso for lunch, where Annie, Chris and Dennis joined us.  The food was delicious and the view amazing. Our table was out on the sand.

Estamos viviendo la vida!!!!      We are living the life!!!

  2. Thanks for the pictures! It is a great way to see this place without traveling there; also, without having to ride a horse!
