Tombstone and Bisbee, Arizona !

We have only six weeks left on our Adventure and it has flied by so fast.  I believe Andy is the calmest I have ever seen her.  The other day she sat for 6 hours playing "Angry Birds" on her phone.  Every once in a while I heard her say "yes".  I believe she is trying for three stars on all games.  I have been reading a lot and planning our adventure...like places we want to see.  The plan for now, is to be in Boise, Idaho before Andy's birthday, May 6.  Then onto Portland, Oregon by the 15th of May.  Maybe we could head off again on the 19th of May...lol

For some of you that might not know, we are staying in Apache Flats RV Resort  here at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.  I believe it is the nicest place we have stayed and it's a military base...who would have thought !  The military lets us eat at the "Mess Hall "  if we want.  Breakfast is like $2.50 and lunch is $4.25.  With prices like that..it's a "no brainer".  Even though we haven't done it yet !  lol

Yesterday we went to Tombstone, Arizona to check it out,  it's only 20 miles away.  We had a great time and learned a lot.  We went to the gun fights at the OK Corral and a few other places.  Boot Hill was a little disappointing... not really much there and grave sites are not really marked...not that I really want to see graves.  Tombstone is a place you could spend the whole day there. We did.

She just had to have a picture of her with the Earp's and Doc Holliday

I think Andy's favorite place was here in Big Nose Kate's Saloon...maybe because she had a Long Island Iced Tea...ya think !  Maybe the music too..but not sure about that !

Big Nose Kate was Doc Holliday's girlfriend
Inside of Big Nose Kate's Saloon
Eileen..you like ?  Just for you !
I went to take a picture of this guy in the band, a one man band, and he pulled his six shooter on me...BASTARD !

Lots of killings and history here !  Bullet holes everywhere !

On Wednesday we went to the Bisbee, Arizona to check out the Queen mines.  It is a copper mine that started like back in the late 1800's. In 1900, Bisbee was the largest cosmopolitan center between St Louis and San Francisco.  The mine has a contant temperture of 45 degrees...so a little chilly for us ...I bet the people in Portland, Oregon would feel right at home...lol

Down we go !

1500 ft of rock above us !
Andy just had to know !
All aboard !

Very interesting and beautiful...I want it but not at $235 bucks !
Open mine
Lake in open mine..

Today we are going to just hang out and chill. Maybe I will finish the "Hunger Game Series".  I haven't read this much in my life.  I believe Andy wants back her Kindle back !  lol    Andy just came back from a little hike and saw a deer...she is excited !

Did we forget the Car ?

We are here in Fort Huachuca ...which is about 75 miles south of Tucson. Fort Huachuca is where the army has in Intel school.  Yea yea I know...funny !   I will take some pictures for you Steve Gates !

Before we left Coolidge Arizona we had to hook up the car, to the motorhome, outside of the RV Park because we would drag the back of the RV getting out of the park.  After I pulled out of our spot Andy jumped in the RV passenger seat.  Off we went on our adventure! Oh wait we forgot the car !  How can you forget the car...I guess we were too excited to find out what was down the road...or we have old timers disease ! Thank goodness we didn't go very far !

The drive down here was easy and pleasant. We plan on staying here for two weeks and then who knows ! This place is really nice and has everything you could need.  Today we will just hang out and get some stuff done.  Andy will be doing business stuff and I will work on my taxes...yuck !

Again, let me take this time to say "thank you" to all our family and friends for all your support and comments. We have followers from all over the world.  How this happens I really don't know.  I "think" it happens because people share on the Internet.  Either way, I find it very interesting and fun !

Wet n Wild ...next stop Fort Huachuca ! (Apache Flats )

We have been in the Phoenix, Arizona area for the past three weeks.  The weather has been hot and sunny.  Since we left Portland Oregon we have seen rain 5 times!  However, it rained so hard the other day, I believe we got the same amount of rain Portland Oregon gets all winter...it even hailed with lightning and thunder !

Yesterday we went to  " Wet N Wild " had had a great time playing in the water. It was 87 degrees and wonderful. For you that know me, you know I can be like a kid !  I was !

That's not me
Racing and I won !  Guess the heavier the better  :+(
We thought of Hunter, Kennedy and Jeff in the Kiddy Fun Place !
Soaking the sunshine

It feels like you are going to fly off the top and into the sky !

Higher than it looks !

The start of the Toilet Bowl..almost straight down !

Going down the drain

Last night we decided to stay in the area, got a hotel room, so we could go to the RV Rally.  What a total disappointment...we won't be going to "The Rally" again.  We have done the same at RV Shows.

On the way home, the RV, we stopped at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, in Coolidge, AZ.  I was told it was build around 1300 AD. One of the oldest Native American sites in North America.  It was interesting and educational.

Four stories build before 1300 AD

Tomorrow morning we will be heading south of Tuscan Arizona. We will be staying at Fort Hauchuca, Arizona, it's about 150 miles from here.  While we are there, we plan on seeing Old Tucson Studios,( where lots of western movies were filmed), Tombstone, Bisbee Mines, Kartchner Caverns and Cochise Stronghold.  We will be at Fort Hauchuca for 2 weeks... then who knows !  Since we have been getting great deals at military bases and forts we stay there when we can.

I finally accomplished something ! Otto and Barbara you will be proud of me !  I finally got the hot water thing all figured out.  I haven't heard a word about hot water in 2 whole weeks.  The hot water heater was just fine.  She was trying to heat the water by electricity and propane at the same time...lol  The water heater was confused ...just like me.  LOL   It took almost a year to get this straight but at least I won't hear " Preston there is no hot water."  All quiet on the RV Front !!!

Renaissance Festival and Mariner Game !

Andy and I have been hanging around Phoenix, Arizona area for the past 2 weeks.  It has been sunny and bright with the temperatures in the mid 80's.  However, tomorrow it's suppose to rain, with high of 65 degrees.  We will be cold tomorrow !  We have gotten so used to the 70's and 80's.  It funny how fast that happens.  On our way back from the Festival today, about 6:00 PM, Andy was cold !  It was still 71 degrees !   LOL

If you ever get to the Phoenix area in mid February to April you should really check out the Renaissance Festival. It is open on Saturdays and Sundays. This place is so unbelievable ! It's a must do !!  So much entertainment. So many things to do and  people to watch !  Very interesting.  I have never been to a place like this before.  We had a blast today ! Oh by the way, must try the Turkey Legs..yummy yummy !  Best ever and I am not a big fan of turkey !!!!
