Cochise Stronghold, Dragoon Mountains, Arizona

Wonderful Day today !

Cochise Stronghold is just Northeast of Tombstone in the Dragoon Mountains.  This rugged terrain and natural fortress, was for 15 years, the home of the famed Chirichua Apache Chief, Cochise.  Cochise and about 1000 of his followers were located there.  Cochise is reputed to have been a master strategist and leader who was never conquered in battle. He fought the famous 10th Cavalry ( Buffalo Soldiers). The legendary Cochise is buried somewhere in this natural granite fortress, though the location of his grave is unknown.

How long will they balance themselves

Looks like a "Western Movie" gun fight area
More amazing than picture can show
Andy and I just happened to come upon a flier for an ATV tour in this area, so we called and made reservations for today.  The tour guides names were Jim and Jane and he was the owner of the company.  I am so glad we contacted them at www.apacheatvtours.com / 520-860-0178.

Preston, Andy, Jane and Jim
They were the greatest...what a wonderful and delightful day we had !  Andy said it was one of the best things we have done since we departed Portland, Oregon...wow that is saying a lot because we have done so many wonderful things... but I would have to agree.  We spent 5-6 hours (45 miles) riding ATV's in a fantastic, beautiful, and historical place with fun and interesting people.  The ATV's were in great shape and there were only 5 people and three ATV's on our tour and that's counting Jim and Jane.  Andy rode on the back of the one I was riding, which she preferred.  It was almost a private tour.

On our way to Cochise Stronghold

I could go on and on...but all I will say...If you find yourself in the Tucson, Tombstone or Fort Huachuca area this is a " MUST DO" !  Thank you Jim and Jane we will be back !
