We are in Coolidge, Arizona

We departed Yuma, Arizona this morning at 9 am after saying goodbye to the friendly people we meet there. It was kind of sad saying goodbye to all those nice people but the adventure must continue plus we had a date with Andy's parents and their good friends  So off we went !

We did have a chance to visit Yuma Territorial Prison built in 1875...well whats left of it !

Bad Girl...very bad !

We meet a couple, Jerry and Ann, that are full timing in their Lazy Days RV. She is a retired nurse and he still trades "Options". So I bugged him about how trading "Options" work. He was very patient with me.  They have been full timing now for 18 months straight.  They seem to enjoy it very much and have no plans on slowing down.  Maybe we will see them again next year in January 2013 in Quartzite, AZ. They did give us a lot of pointers and I plan on using them.  We even exchanged blog sites...lol

We also meet Mike and his wife Caeryn.  The way we met Mike...he came up to me and asked how long we were staying.  He wanted our spot!  We must have pulled into it 3 minutes after someone pulled out.  I guess we were quicker !  lol  Of course I told him 4 days and he was so funny.  He didn't mean to come across that way and felt really bad...you know me, I teased the heck out of him.  We laughed about it for a few days but of course I kept rubbing it in.  He and his wife were very nice and friendly.  They go to Imperial Dam Rec Area every year for the past 7 years, I believe.  They arrive around October and leave the end of March,  I am sure we will see them again because we plan on coming back next year.

The other couple we meet, Irene and Doug, are from Canada...seems like half of the people here are from that friendly country to the north.  He is retired from the Canadian Air Force so we compared military stories.  They too, have been coming to this place for many years.  They are close friends with Mike and Caeryn.  I believe they meet here many years ago and meet every year.  We again, enjoyed their company.  I am sure we will meet them again too.

Imperial Dam Rec Area is about 20 miles NE of Yuma, AZ where thousands of RV's show up around October and leave some time in March or April.  There are no hook ups.  Just pull in and park!  Even with so many RV's it doesn't feel like you are in a parking lot.  The area is so vast it could easy to fit a few thousand more...and still have room.  Everyone waved and said hi.  It wasn't uncommon for someone to stop by and introduce themselves and want to chat for a while.  So if you want to be left alone this isn't the place to hide...they will seek you out and just want to chit chat !   We enjoyed it ! We were also lucky enough to be able to shop and get gas at the US Army Yuma Proving Grounds which many cannot...some benefit of doing 21 years in the Army !  LOL

The area is for sure a desert...Lots of sun, rocks and very few trees but one thing they do have are wild donkeys!  They just wonder by and hang out for a while. However, once they see a dog they just move along.  I believe they don't trust "mans best friend" because it reminds them of coyotes. Can't say I blame them.  The sunsets are very pretty but the sunrises are even better.  We will be back!

Lone Ass..lol

Sunset
We arrived today at Indian Skies Resort, in Coolidge, Arizona. The weather was sunny and 81 Degrees.  Tomorrows forecast is 85 degrees.  We met up with Otto and Barbara, Andy's parents. I also meet their best friends, Ruoff and Beth. They are very nice and Andy just loves them.  In the past 30 days Andy has seen her dad in 3 states and 3 countries...how funny is that !

This place is a lot different then where we have stayed.  There is a large swimming pool, hot tub and  everything you can think of.  It is quite nice. We are scheduled to stay here until next Sunday but we think we will stay an extra week...time will tell !  Ruoff, Beth and their son Jon gave us lots of places to check out while we are here.  They are all very nice and friendly!

Andy and I are enjoying this little adventure of ours...heck, she already wants to go on a longer trip next time !
